Stikatak Adhesives Form Basis of Durable Flooring

Whatever the chosen floor covering, getting the foundations correct when it comes to laying it will make the difference between a successful job and a poor quality one. Success starts with the right adhesive.

Stikatak’s range of flooring adhesives is broad enough to ensure that there is a product suitable for every eventuality, floor and covering, and with the Stikatak range being given the industry’s seal of approval at the National Flooring Awards 2007, for the 7th year in a row, quality and performance are guaranteed.

No contractor or householder wants a wooden floor that squeaks, a lino floor than buckles or a carpet that curls at the edges, so Stikatak’s range of nearly 40 different specialised flooring adhesives and six different types of adhesive tape has never been more attractive and selecting the right adhesive for the job has never been easier.

Not a company to rest on its laurels, however, and with the variety of floor coverings and materials available on the market becoming increasingly diverse, Stikatak works hard on an ongoing basis to ensure there are always new product developments in the pipeline to keep up with consumer demand. This year alone almost 25% of adhesive products manufactured by Stikatak are innovative products, exclusive to the company, and new to the UK market. Each one fills a specific niche.

Stikatak’s recently launched Wood & Laminate Flooring Gap Sealant is available in four colours to suit every wood tone: clear, light, medium and dark. These are flexible, water resistant sealants and gap fillers for sealing around wood and laminate flooring, they all have a silk finish and a resistance to mould and household cleaners.

Great for glueless laminate floors is the Laminate Joint Moisture Guard, another flexible, water resistant joint sealer, though this time for use in moisture prone areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and utility areas.

The Wood Flooring Tongue & Groove Adhesive has already proved a great hit with flooring specialists and retail customers alike. It’s a solvent free, specialist PVA dispersion, water resistant to D3 for wood and laminate flooring, plastic laminates and general woodworking applications.

Another great new product brought onto the market in 2007 is the Wood and Parquet Flooring Adhesive, a high performance, high solids, water based acrylic adhesive designed for the interior bonding of solid wood plank and parquet flooring. This product has been developed by closely working with master fitters to ensure its suitability and the high-solids content (at least 80%) ensures that the moisture level from the adhesive is minimized during installation.

Stikatak has also brought out the superbly reliable Scotia and Skirting Adhesive, a high strength, gap filling water based adhesive mastic for the fixing of scotias, quadrants and skirtings to wood, chipboard, brick, plaster and stone. It can also be used to fix dado rails, skirting boards, architraves and lightweight cornice. It is quick grab, dries white and may be over-painted or varnished.
